Shrewsbury Brass Band’s Training Band seeks new players

After a successful 2012 which saw some of the training band’s players move up to the main band. Shrewsbury Brass Band Training Band is looking for new brass and percussion players to join their friendly band. The training band has a long history and indeed many of our section leaders came through the training band known then as the New Venturers. Our purpose is to provide an enjoyable music making experience for all our members whilst encouraging and developing their musical and social skills. Shrewsbury Brass Band is a community, self funding, non contesting and we perform locally throughout the year in the local area and beyond. The band also raises funds for charities and in 2012 the band has raised funds for Mayors Charity, Muscular Dystrophy UK, and Hope House Children’s Hospice.

The training band is conducted by James Dale, Richard Pulford and Lisa Kendall. James and Richard both have a long history with the band, having joined as youngsters and have played with the band ever since. Lisa joined the band in March 2012 and has played in a number of contesting bands at home in Aberdeen and Shropshire. Lisa holds a diploma in music teaching through the ICMA and is currently working towards her ATCL through Trinity.

The training band practice on a Tuesday evening from 6pm to 7.10 at the West Mid Showground, Berwick Road. Anyone interested in joining the band should check out our website at
