A newlywed Shropshire couple wowed party guests

A newlywed Shropshire couple wowed party guests with a unique attraction - the world’s only giant bouncy castle in the shape of a JCB.

George and Emma Fenton, who had previously married at Olu Deniz, The Blue Lagoon in Turkey, threw an unusual and lavish blessing celebration for family and friends at The Wroxeter Hotel on Saturday 29th June 2013.

The enormous inflatable, a one off originally made for JCB was bought by Mr Fenton’s Telford-based company H Plant a few years ago and has an assault course in the middle and a giant slide at the back.

The bride and groom, who had a blessing at Leighton Church before the celebrations, arrived at the church in a silver bonnet Rolls Royce cabriolet, one of only 10 in the Country, and then travelled to the hotel in a fairytale-style horse and carriage, complete with white horses.

Mr Fenton said they had been keen to give their guests something different and fun compared to the average wedding reception.

“The JCB bouncy castle weighs half a tonne, needs its own trailer to transport it and four men to unroll it before it can be inflated,” he said.

“Standing next to it, I barely come to the middle of one of the wheels and it really was a hit with our guests, with adults and children alike having a go late into the night.

“The sun shone and we really did have a day to remember.”

Hannah Hall, owner of the Wroxeter Hotel, said the wedding ranked amongst their most unusual.

“For us there’s no such thing as a normal wedding. Each and every couple come with their own ideas and it’s our job to turn those ideas into a reality,” she said

“We were delighted to accommodate George and Emma’s more unusual requests and the team really pulled out all the stops to ensure everything went according to plan.

“We have a dedicated team of staff here at the hotel and will always go above and beyond to make sure couples have the wedding celebration of their dreams - whether or not that might include a giant JCB bouncy castle.”

The function for 300 guests took place in a 100-foot marquee attached to the side of the hotel, with separate but linked marquees for the bar and catering. Inside was a stage for the 10-piece live band, Back to Miami.
