New Honorary Secretary needed NOW!

A great job opportunity is available now to someone with Secretarial and good communication skills. It is several months since Shropshire disability Network first put out an appeal. We think there must be someone who would like a new challenge and to help so many people in Shropshire including Telford and Wrekin. This is an opportunity to work with a committed group of people (most have a disability or are carers) helping a local charity to be the “Voice” for those who have a disability and/or caring for a family member Please read more as it may be you! This is a key voluntary position for a current or new/potential member of Shropshire Disability Network.
The role involves attending monthly management committee meetings, which are held in or near Shrewsbury; booking venues for meetings across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin; attending quarterly Members’ Meetings; emailing information such as agendas and minutes to members prior to the Members and Committee Meetings. It is important that you are a team player with good communication skills as apart from emailing members/contacts there will be times when you will need to contact by telephone as not all members have IT access .
You will work from home as we have no premises, so the post is flexible but it is a position that can be very rewarding and satisfying. If the role appeals to you and you would like to find out more, may be have a chat about it, please email [email protected] or call the SDN chairperson, Sonia Roberts, on 07930 397 270
You will be making a major contribution to the continuing growth and influence of a “powerful voice” in Shropshire on behalf of the disability community. It can be a very rewarding opportunity. SDN reimburses necessary out of pocket expenses.
Since its foundation in 2008 SDN has grown as the “Voice” for disability across the county of Shropshire. It appeared on the scene just in time – in the past five years the disabled have been put under increasing economic and political pressure, stigmatised and increasingly marginalised in society. Without SDN and other organisations like it around the country, there would be few “collective voices” to represent people with a disability. So please think about what you can offer. It’s important!
So what can you get from being a Volunteer? Increased Confidence, meet new  and make new friends, raised self esteem by knowing you are helping a worthy organisation that you belong to or are joining, learning more about us and sharing with others important information and more. We hope someone will take up this opportunity and if we can get both a Secretary and Assistant Secretary for SDN that would be marvellous.

”You engage with Us, We engage with You”
