MARKETING ADVICE EVENING SET TO BE A REGULAR FOR THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY

A brand new marketing and advice evening in Shrewsbury is set to become a staple in the calendar of events to help the local business community maximise their potential.

‘An Evening With’ the Best of Shrewsbury launched in October when its inaugural event was held at Greenhous Meadow, the home of Shrewsbury Town Football Club. The follow up, at the same venue, will take place on Thursday, January 31 from 5.45pm to 8pm with guest speakers, informal networking plus food and a bar.
The event is to give Shropshire entrepreneurs the chance to mingle and create important new contacts but is not a “traditional” networking session.
With attendance capped at 50, guests at the first event got to pick up tips and information on growing their business and meet people they might not have bumped into "on the circuit". There were talks and sessions from a number of successful business leaders plus chance to chat informally and make contacts.
Capitalising on the momentum of the first event are the people behind it, Andy and Emma Rao, directors of The bestof Shrewsbury and Key 3 Media, both based in Shrewsbury.
Andy said: “We understand that making contacts and learning more about business can become a bit samey at the usual networking meetings, so we have binned the one-minute speeches and created a fresh event where bumping into the same people week in week out won’t happen.

“There will be different talks this time round of course, from equally knowledgeable business experts we have met along the way, plus a couple of surprises and a photographer.
“Overall, we want people to enjoy the knowledge and company of fellow local business owners and managers, learn about 'insider' tools that cost nothing yet can make your business lots, hear from guest speakers on branding, social media and communication and make invaluable partnerships.”

Mike Fox, of FoxTrax Off Road Training, based in north Shropshire, said: "I felt the last event was brilliant. I made some very useful contacts with the most unlikely of people, and am already reaping some benefit from it. The venue is excellent, with easy access, plenty of parking and a superb buffet. Informally chatting to people is the best way to network."
Andy added: “One of the great things about thebestof Shrewsbury is that it brings so many different businesses together. We work with everyone, from accountants and solicitors to nail bars, window cleaners and everything in between. Not only are the businesses local, but so are the people behind them.”
