There is plenty of fun in store at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings this weekend. On Sunday 28 July the English Heritage site will open its doors without charge and will host a variety of family focussed activities, games and workshops. Everybody is invited to explore and engage with one of Shrewsbury’s finest historical buildings and to play, create and learn in an exciting and fun environment for free.
The family fun day will provide opportunities for children and their grown-ups to attend storytelling tours, make bat masks, find out about the animals, write music go on a trail to find out fascinating facts and to build a factory out of spaghetti and marshmallows! People are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch, to stay for the whole day or to drop in at any time.
Fay Bailey, Development Officer for Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings says, “The Flax Mill fun day will be a great opportunity for families to explore the mill together. Our new story telling tours and trail leaflet will allow families to have some fun whilst learning about the mill and the people who lived and worked there. We are really excited to be working with our partner organisations, Shropshire Family Learning, Shropshire Wildlife Trust and the Youth Positive Activities Team to deliver an exciting programme of arts, crafts, music and much more”.
The fun day will take place at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, Ditherington, Shrewsbury, SY1 2SX this Sunday 28 July from 10am until 4pm and is free to attend. You can find out more about other events and activities taking place at the site by visiting
