Thirsty work for our recycling crews this summer

You might be in holiday mode this summer but that doesn’t mean taking a break from recycling.  As Shropshire sizzles in some of the hottest sunshine we have seen in some time, we are seeing a surge in sales of soft drinks this superb summer season.

We get through a staggering 100,000 plastic bottles and 70,000 drinks cans every day in Shropshire! During this heatwave this is on the up and so mountains of empties end up as unwanted waste.  So all we're asking is please don’t bag the bottle or bin the tin this summer. Make a positive difference for your community and pop them in your recycling box instead - no sweat.

When you drink, stop and think.  If everyone in Shropshire recycled all their drinks cans and plastic bottles all of the time, we'd all be so much better off.   Of course the environment benefits from recycling but it also creates more jobs and boosts our economy.  We can generate an income for Shropshire by getting these items recycled at local manufacturing facilities plus it means thousands of tonnes less rubbish to get rid of which saves taxpayers money.
