Pottery sessions to launch

Exciting pottery sessions for pre-school children are about to launch at a Shropshire arts venue. The Hive Music and Media Centre in Shrewsbury is to host Little Potters, starting next Tuesday.

Little Potters aims to deliver an interactive pottery session for under 5s, providing an engaging yet messy hour of creativity on Tuesday mornings, between 10am and 11am. Sessions will begin on January 15 with places £5 and parents free. Participants will be able to work with their parents, to make and glaze a piece of clay which will be fired ready for collection - materials are included in the cost.

The pottery classes initially started last year, when three trial sessions were run during the autumn. The workshops proved so popular with both parents and young participants alike that it was demanded that they became a permanent fixture in the Hive's calendar. Little Potters will accompany the established and popular toddler session Music Time, which takes place on Friday mornings at the Hive, offering a lively hour of musicial fun each week.

Habib Malik-Mansell from the Hive said "We are pleased to announce that the Little Potters workshops are returning on a permanent basis. I certainly encourage people to come along and discover the joy of pottery for themselves; offering toddlers the chance to be creative within a safe and friendly environment!"

Places can be booked for the new Little Potters sessions by calling the Hive on 01743 234970 or by visiting the centre in person at 5 Belmont, SY1 1TE http://www.hiveonline.org.uk/littlepotters/
