An independent youth arts charity working across Shropshire is appealing for new trustees to join their existing board, presenting an opportunity for local people to get involved with one of the County’s most prominent entertainment venues and community arts organisations.
The Hive is based in the heart of Shrewsbury town centre and works across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and the wider sub-region, with the primary aim of inspiring young people through music and media.
The organisation delivers a wide variety of valuable projects, working closely with partner organisations and agencies, providing opportunities for young people to develop new skills, have fun and be creative. Young people that the charity works with include groups such as young carers, Looked After Children and those who are not in education or employment.
The Centre hosts a diverse range of cultural events for the local community as well and the organisations recent street party demonstrated the importance of local businesses and charitable organisations working together in partnership.
Alyson Lanning, Director of the Hive said “This offers an exciting opportunity for local residents to join our existing board of trustees and give something back to the community. The minimum commitment would be to attend board meetings once a month for approximately two hours and I encourage anyone who is interested to contact me directly.”
She added “We are particularly interested in recruiting trustees who have either accountancy or legal skills”.
