Boom! Surround sound arrives at Hive

Reeling from strength to strength, a well-established film group has today unveiled a brand new surround sound system at a popular arts venue. Members of the Shrewsbury Film Society at the Hive Music and Media Centre believe their latest development will help deliver a true cinematic experience with a difference for the benefit of their audiences, bringing an added dimension to regular film screenings.

The Society is looking forward to launching the second half of their current season, which will commence with the 2011 film Headhunters on Friday January 11. A Norwegian thriller directed by Morten Tyldum, Headhunters comes to the screen with Scandinavian sophistication yet Hollywood slickness and is billed as not to be missed!

Other films to be screened at the Hive by the Shrewsbury Film Society over coming weeks, include The Source on January 25 and A Screaming Man on February 8. Future highlights of the current season also include Monsieur Lazhar, The Skin I Live In - plus 1929 classic Man with a Movie Camera on March 22. The season runs up until April 19 with a cinematic gem to be shown fortnightly on Friday evenings.

Entry for films is £5 on the door, with bar and doors opening at 7:30pm and films starting at 8pm. People who love films, social evenings and intimate surroundings are encouraged to come along to make the most of affordable cinema situated in the heart of the town, admist a professional and friendly atmosphere.

Habib Malik-Mansell from the Hive said “Thanks to Shropshire Council LJC funding, the society has recently completed installation of a new cinema quality surround sound system. This latest improvement follows on from a new big screen which was also funded through an LJC application - plus a Community Grant from The Midlands Co-operative funded a new projector and Blu-ray player last year." He added "All of these cinematic enhancements certainly improve the quality of screenings and provide improved facilities for wider community use via other events at the Hive."
