Animation workshop sells out

A stop-frame animation workshop for young people has sold out well in advance of the summer holidays. Bosses at the Hive in Shrewsbury are therefore keen to ensure that people don't miss out on the opportunity to particpate in the organisations other activities, which include a theatre summer-school and a two day film-making master-class.

The animation workshop in August offers young people aged 8-13 a chance to explore stop-frame animation techniques, creating colourful characters and sets. Animation continually proves popular year after year and this summer holiday programme has been no exception.

'Here to Save the Universe' is this year's summer-school which will be delivered by the established Shrewsbury Youth Theatre. Young people will devise a brand new theatre piece and develop their performance skills, whilst gaining knowledge of everything that goes into producing a show behind-the-scenes. The workshop runs from Wednesday August 14 through until Friday August 16, between 10am and 4pm each day, with places costing £45 for the three days.

A two-day film-making master-class aimed at ages 8-13 will take place on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 August. Participants will acquire hands-on experience in all stages of film production; learning about story development during the process. Filming on location, young people involved will also have an insight into editing final footage. Places for the workshop, taking place between 10am and 3:30pm on both days, cost only £40.

Habib Malik-Mansell from the Hive said "This summer holiday we have three great workshops to choose from and it's no surprise that animation has sold out yet again. We're pleased to be delivering the summer-school in association with Shrewsbury Youth Theatre who are based at the centre and the two-day film-making masterclass should also prove equally popular"

Places for the theatre summer school and film-making masterclass can be booked by calling 01743 234970 or dropping by the centre in person at 5 Belmont, SY1 1TE.
