Experts from one of the UK’s leading regional fine art auction houses are hoping to discover treasures in Wilmslow and surrounding area when they hold the first in a series of complimentary valuation events in the town later this month.
Jewellery, silver and bijouterie specialist Maryanne Lineker-Mobberley and watches specialist Alexander Clement, from Shrewsbury-based Halls Fine Art, will be available for appointments at The Colony, Meeting Room 2, Altrincham Road, Wilmslow from 1.30pm to 4.30pm on Thursday, January 29.
This free event, which will focus on jewellery and watches this time, marks a happy return to Cheshire and the South Manchester area for Alexander who was well known in the region between 1998 and 2014 when he worked as a valuer for Bonhams.
“I visited Wilmslow and the surrounding area every week and would pack my Ford Mondeo estate car with items that were consigned for auction,“ said Alexander. “I made some good friends in the area and it would be great to see them again and to meet new acquaintances who have watches and jewellery to be valued and to sell.
“Halls Fine Art plans to develop a regular presence in Wilmslow in the coming year to provide a professional service across all our departments to residents of the town and surrounding area.
“The Colony is a great venue for our valuation events and I would encourage people to come along and get their watches and jewellery assessed free of charge. The start of a new year is good time to receive an updated valuation to ensure that valuable items are fully covered by home insurance policies.”
Halls Fine Art has a successful track record of selling valuable items from South Manchester and Cheshire. An outstanding example a medal collection assembled by a late Second World War serviceman which sold for £50,000.
Other successes were £4,600 for UK Royal Mint Elizabeth II Britannia gold proof collection, £2,000 for a gentleman’s stainless steel Heuer chronograph wristwatch and £1,500 for an Edwardian silver spoon by Charles Robert Ashbee (1863-1942) for the Guild of Handicraft Ltd.
To book a 30 minute appointment with Alexander and Maryanne call 01743 450 700 or email fineart@hallsgb.com . Home visits can also be arranged to view large collections.
Halls Fine Art is a division of Halls, a multi-disciplinary company with a network of offices serving Shropshire, South Cheshire, Worcestershire, the West Midlands and Mid and North Wales.
