Elan Catrin Parry with Curtis Langley from The Movement Centre

The Movement Centre is excited to present An Evening of Song at Holy Trinity Church in Oswestry on 17th October. People of Shropshire, North Wales, and beyond are being invited to attend this fantastic event, featuring the Rhos Orpheus Male Choir and singer/songwriter Elan Catrin Parry.

The internationally acclaimed Rhos Orpheus Male Choir (Cor Meibion Orffiws y Rhos) was formed in 1957. The Choir hails from the village of Rhos near Wrexham. They have performed in Europe, Israel, China, the USA and Canada and have a reputation as one of the finest male voice choirs in Wales. Richard Huxley, Concert Secretary for the choir said "We are delighted to perform in Oswestry in this concert to support the work of The Movement Centre and we are looking forward to performing alongside Elan. It promises to be a fantastic evening of great music."

Elan Catrin Parry, from North Wales, will be supporting the choir. Elan was featured on ITV’s This Time Next Year, presented by Davina McCall. The programme sees hopefuls making pledges that they hope to achieve in a year’s time. Elan made a very special pledge, that she would have a record deal and release her first album. She did just that!

15 year old Elan is the first female Welsh singer since to be exclusively signed to Decca Records since Katherine Jenkins back in 2003. She released her first album, Angel in August 2018. It reached number one in the ITunes Classical Chart in its first week.

Elan says “Musically it’s a mix of folk songs and classic tunes.” She is bilingual and switches naturally between Welsh and English on the album. “I’ve always sung in Welsh and it’s something that comes naturally. I am really looking forward to sharing my songs at The Movement Centre’s event in October”.

The event is set to be a real spectacle, which is not to be missed. Tickets are just £12. They can be purchased on EventBrite (below) or directly from The Movement Centre, please call 01691 404248 or email info@the-movement-centre.co.uk.

All proceeds from the event will go to Shropshire based children’s charity, The Movement Centre, who support children and their families living with movement disabilities. A donation will also be made to Holy Trinity Church.
