Things to Do: May

The weather is getting brighter and hopefully a long return of blue, sunny skies (fingers crossed). So, what a better time to get out and about with lots to see and do in the county this month.

Walking Tours of Shrewsbury: Ongoing until September

Cupid's Revenge: 5 May 2022

Touring dance and comedy duo New Art Club arrive to SpArC Theatre with Arts Alive for one night only following its previous postponed performances. Tickets and details can be found here.

Billionaire Boy: 5-8 May 2022

Based on the popular novel by David Walliams, the stage performance will be coming to Theatre Severn this May. Following the story of Joe Spud and his search for friendship, the play follows his journey as he tries to find what money can’t buy. Tickets are available to book here

Shrewsbury Regatta: 7-8 May 2022

After its two-year pause, Shrewsbury Regatta returns to the town starting from the Quarry Park boathouses. Over 1500 competitors are expected to compete in this highly anticipated events on the rowing calendar with free space for spectators along the river edge. Find out more here.

Severn Jesters Comedy Club: 8 May 2022

Trish Clowes – My Iris: 14 May 2022

The Hive will be hosting another amazing jazz event featuring the contemporary jazz group for one night only. Attendees will also have the option to join a masterclass with Trish and her band prior to the show. Book your ticket here

Rebecca Loebe: 15 May 2022

True Songs and a Lie, the storytelling concert adventure by the award-winning songwriter will be coming to The Hive for one night only. Following her time on NBSs The Voice, vocalist Rebecca is touring across the UK and Europe. Book your tickets here.

Dylan Moran: 19 May 2022

Dylan Moran comes to Theatre Severn with his new stand-up show, We Got This with what promises to be an night of signature, deadpan-style, observational comedy. Limited tickets are still available here

Shropshire Party at Quarry Park:  21-22 May 2022

Shropshire Festivals have plenty happening this year in including their party in Quarry Park. With live entertainment, local food and drink surrounding the huge music stage, there’s something for all for a great event on the green grass of Quarry Hill.

Les Musicals: 22 May

Ansell’s LES MUSICALS returns to Theatre Severn as part of its 2022 tour. Join Jonathan Ansell (G4 Frontman) and Jai McDowall (Winner of Britain’s Got Talent) for a dramatic and spine-tingling concert - the ultimate celebration of Musical Theatre. Book your ticket here

Zog and The Flying Doctors: 25 & 26 May 2022

Zog, super keen student turned air-ambulance, still lands with a crash-bang-thump.

Together with his Flying Doctor crew, Princess Pearl and Sir Gadabout, they tend to a sunburnt mermaid, a unicorn with one too many horns and a lion with the flu. However, Pearl’s uncle, the King, has other ideas about whether princesses should be doctors, and she's soon locked up in the castle back in a crown and a silly frilly dress!

Carl Hutchinson: 27 May 2022

Shropshire County Agricultural Show: 28 May 2022

Since its launch in 1875, this signature event in the agricultural sector has seen many changes and continues to grow in scale and popularity. Attracting thousands of visitors, the family event returns to Greenhous West Mid Showground for one day only.

Shrewsbury Krazy Races: 29 May 2022

A welcome return since its 2019 launch, this year’s event is set to be bigger and better than ever. Racing teams from across the county will be taking part in the 300m track race in their soapbox karts, battling it out for a chance to win the coveted trophy.
