Your favourite view in Shrewsbury could win you £250

People in Shrewsbury are being asked to share photographs of their favourite views for a competition.

McCarthy and Stone, the leading manager and developer of retirement communities behind the Summerfield Place Retirement Living development in Shrewsbury, is looking to capture some of the architecture and culture that can be found around every corner of the city, so it can be enjoyed by its new and prospective homeowners.

The competition aims to showcase photographs of scenery, wildlife and landscapes taken by amateur photographers and members of the community that encapsulate their favourite views. These might be well known views of the famous Castle or Abbey, shots capturing the beauty Quarry Park or the town’s iconic timber buildings. They could be ‘best kept secrets’ or even have a personal meaning.

The Mayor of Shrewsbury will judge the competition. The best photographs will be displayed in the homeowners’ lounge at Summerfield Place, which is now open to view by appointment and the winning entrant will receive £250.

Samantha Watkins, Deputy Divisional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy and Stone Midlands, commented: “We have all been enjoying more walks lately and really taking the time to appreciate what’s on our doorstep. Shrewsbury has so many stunning views and places to visit, and we want to help our new community at Summerfield Place discover some of these for themselves, and who better to show them we thought than local residents!

“We want the photographs to be displayed pride of place in our new homeowners’ lounge. These will be enjoyed for years to come by our homeowners and customers at the development.”

Each entrant is permitted to submit a maximum of five photos. These should be emailed to [email protected] by the closing date of Monday 30 November with ‘Shrewsbury Photo Contest’ in the subject.  In your email you should include your full name and a title for your photograph and where it was taken.

Open to all ages. Under 16s must ask an adult’s permission. Please ask permission of anyone who appears in your photo.
