Weddings with a twist at a Shropshire country home

The grounds of a Grade II listed country home in Shropshire is to be transformed into a contemporary rustic wedding setting - complete with tipis.

Shropshire Weddings and Events will be staging their Summer showcase at Leighton Hall, near Shrewsbury, on June 21 (Sunday).

Co-ordinator Darryl-Ann Brooks said a wedding will take place at the site on the Saturday and the tipis will remain in place to allow couples considering an outdoor event to see them.

“In conjunction with Woodland Weddings and World Inspired Tents the hall will be opening its doors, and its grounds, to allow couples to have a look round,” she added.

“The house, which can accommodate up to 90 for a wedding breakfast and up to 150 for an evening do, will be laid up for an English Country wedding.

“The archery lawn will feature the vast tipis, which can cater for 200 plus guests.”

This will be the first showcase since Leighton was awarded its civil ceremony license and couples can also see the spectacular sites with views of the river where they might say “I do”. The parish church will also be available to view.

“A lot of couples like the idea of getting married outside and enjoying an afternoon on the lawn with their friends and family,” said Hannah Hall, of Leighton’s sister venue The Wroxeter Hotel, which caters for the outdoor events.

“The idea of woodland weddings is becoming popular in Shropshire because of our wonderful landscape.

“A number of stunning woodland spots have been identifies that are just perfect for those looking for an alternative wedding surrounded by the beauty of nature.

“But many couples want to be assured of glamour and sophistication on the day despite the outdoor location - and that is one of the things we will be showcasing on June 21.
“It will have a luxury glamping feel.”

The open event will be held from noon until 3pm. For more information about Leighton Hall visit for further information about World Inspired Tents visit
