Walking Dead Spotted at Shrewsbury Follies

The undead have risen and have been spotted at Hawkstone Park Follies near Shrewsbury as well as appearing recently on BBC Shropshire Radio. Thankfully we are not on the verge of a zombie apocalypse, just a few practice zombies getting ready for the Annual West Midlands Horror Zombie Escape Race on the 18th May.

With more jumps and scares than ever before, participants will have to survive the 5km route of forests, caves and ravines throughout Hawkstone Park Follies, with only 3 chances to stay alive.

Participants are given 3 flags for their belts on arriving at base camp with the goal of protecting these flags throughout the course. Each flag represents a life which could be taken from them by the many zombies throughout the Park. Even if they lose all three lives, they can still finish the course as a runner, although they will have joined the team of the undead. A number of Safe Zones and water stations are located around the course as well as medics giving out extra lives.

New for 2019 – The zombies have ventured further into the Caves for 2019, and as well as the much loved life eating zombies, there will be a number of scare actors on the course who's soul jobs is to make people.

Park Manager, Caroline Talbot said: “We are thrilled to be hosting the West Midland Horror Zombie Escape Race again this year, run by Bodytech Gym. This popular event is a great way to get people active and outdoors as the adrenaline from being chased by Zombies definitely helps get the feet moving around the 5km course. Although I am happy to say on this occasion I will personally be staying behind the start line away from the zombies.”

This year’s run is taking place after the main Park closes so daily guests are able to visit The Follies without fear of coming across a Zombie on route.

To purchase tickets, potential zombie fodder are encouraged to contact Bodytech Gym whilst spaces are still available. Bodytech Gym Shrewsbury: 01743 236165 www.bodytechhealthclubs.co.uk
