Time to lend a paw? Volunteers needed at local pet charity shop

Do you have an hour or two or more up your sleeve each week to help poorly and abandoned pets? Blue Cross pet charity shop on the High Street is appealing to the people of Shrewsbury to lend a hand.

There are lots of different roles on offer from sorting and organising stock, helping customers, serving on the till, window dressing, helping out with general duties and organising local events.

Mark Smith, Blue Cross Shop Manager in Shrewsbury said: “We’re looking for anyone who can regularly spare a few hours a week to help us in the shop. We have a super, welcoming team here and volunteering can be a fun way get valuable work experience in retail and meet new people. Working in the charity shop also goes a long way to help pets in need.”

Blue Cross charity shops also welcome good quality stock. If your home or wardrobe in needs a belated spring clean or clear out good quality clothes, books, ornaments and other household items can be donated at the shop, but please do not leave bags of goods outside when shop is closed

Blue Cross shops support the charity’s work finding loving new homes for cats, dogs, small animals and horses at its rehoming centres across the country, as well as providing veterinary care for pet owners who are receiving means-tested benefits at its animal hospitals and clinics. Blue Cross also runs an education service which promotes responsible pet ownership and gives free talks to schools and groups around the country.
