Talk by TV tree & gardens expert will focus on planting for climate change

A talk in Shrewsbury by celebrated tree and gardens expert, author and broadcaster Tony Russell will focus on planting for climate change.

Mr Russell, the former Head Forester at the famous Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucestershire, will give the talk, entitled ‘Gardening with Trees in the 21st Century’, on Tuesday November 13.

"With climate change now seen as a reality, in this fascinating talk Tony Russell will explore the trees which are likely to thrive in our gardens in a wetter and warmer Britain and suggests those trees which should perhaps not be planted in the future,” said David Martin, of the Severn Tree Trust, which has organised the event.

The talk will take place, in the 026 lecture room at the University Centre Shrewsbury Guildhall, at Frankwell Quay, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced at £5, are now available from Shrewsbury Visitor Information Centre, at The Music Hall, in Market Street. A limited number of tickets will be available on the door.
