Shropshire team helping businesses hire apprentice

There has never been a better time for Shropshire businesses to bring an apprentice into their workforce.

With additional support on offer from the Government, the Business Solutions Team at Shrewsbury Colleges Group (SCG) are on hand to take local businesses to the next level with apprenticeships.

The UK Government's incentive scheme, running until 31 March 2021, means employers who hire new apprentices will receive up to £3,000 for apprentices aged 16-24, and £1,500 for those aged 25 and over. This is also applicable for an apprentice who has been the victim of redundancy.

“There really hasn’t been a better time to hire an apprentice with the additional support on offer from the Government,” said Corinne Brown, Business Solutions Manager at SCG.

“We know many local and national businesses may have suffered significantly during this difficult time. Apprentices can bring a breath of fresh air into a business and help plan for the future and diversify a workforce. We have lots of great young people searching for their opportunity to start a career.”

The wide selection of apprenticeships on offer in conjunction with SCG means that an apprentice can cover lots of different job roles within any business. Training for the job is a blend of in college education at SCG and on-the-job training within the organisation and the training approach can be adapted to suit the business’s current needs.
