Shropshire Rescue Dog ‘Lonesome Laura’ Just Looking To Be Loved

SHROPSHIRE dog rescue charity Finding Furever Homes is appealing for a new home for a dog they have nicknamed ‘Lonesome Laura’ after her best friend was rehomed, leaving her on her own.

Laura, a four-year-old ex-racing greyhound, has been in rescue since February, during which time she has been sharing with another greyhound, Mossy. The two ex-racers became fast friends up until a week ago when Mossy was taken out of kennels after being adopted by new owners, leaving Laura on her own.

Andrea Newton, Founder of Finding Furever Homes, which sponsors Laura’s kennels near Condover, Shropshire, said: “Laura seems so lonesome now her best friend Mossy has gone. Her future is pretty uncertain as there are sadly just so many ex racing greyhounds languishing in rescue all over the UK, so we are eager to find her a new home as soon as possible.”

“Sadly ex-racers often haven’t had much loving interaction with people, but despite this Laura has a very friendly, playful personality. She loves treats and is a very sweet natured girl.”

Andrea added: “Contrary to popular belief, greyhounds do not require huge amounts of exercise, so we urge people not to discount adopting an ex-racer because of this. Laura has a fabulous personality and is just waiting for someone to take her out of rescue and give her a loving home.”

Laura is staying in rescue in Shropshire, but the charity are happy to re-home anywhere within the UK subject to suitable home checks and a pledge to be ‘Rescue Ready’.
