Shropshire hotel experiences mini baby boom

The year 2012 marked the biggest baby boom in Britain for more than 40 years but now a Shropshire hotel is experiencing a mini boom of its very own.

With four toddlers and a further two babies on the way the office mummies at the Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel and Spa are wondering if there may be something in the water.

Nicky Shore, sales office manager, who is due to give birth to her first child any day soon, said: “There are five of us who work in the office here at the hotel and the first round of babies were all born really close together and three of them will celebrate a birthday in December.

“I’m due to give birth very soon and Kirthana Iyer, the sales coordinator, is due with her first baby in January too.

“We’ve all joked between us about the ‘chair’ in the office because we are due within a short space of time but honestly there could definitely be something in the water.

“Three of the office toddlers were born in December so it’s either a real coincidence or something funny is going on.”

Hotel general manager Jennifer Sibbald- Wall, who is also a mum to two grown-up boys and has eight grandchildren, said: “As you can imagine the office talk over the last few months has been all about babies. It’s wonderful.

“Nicky is now on maternity leave so we are eagerly awaiting the good news call to the office and soon Kirthana will also be starting her leave.

“It’s all very exciting.

“Soon enough we’ll have our very own Albrighton Hall football team.”
