Shropshire Dog Rescue Seeks Homes For Perfect Pups

A SHROPSHIRE dog charity is urging people to come forward who can offer a puppy a ‘furever’ home after they have been continually overlooked for reasons unknown.

Finding Furever Homes, which sponsors a kennels near Condover, Shropshire, is desperate to find loving new owners for two of their dogs who have been waiting for someone to adopt them since being handed over to the charity due to a change in their previous owner’s circumstances.

The two black crossbreed puppies, Koda and Kenai, are from the same litter but do not need to be rehomed together, although the charity would prefer them to go to people who already own a dog. Although they are nearly 6 months old, they have spent much of this time surrounded by other dogs in rescue – so they have grown accustomed to canine company.

Andrea Newton, from Finding Furever Homes, said: “Koda and Kenai are both so adorable, playful and full of life. They each have a lovely nature and don’t come with any baggage – so we really can’t understand why they haven’t been snapped up by someone looking to adopt.”

She added: “Their story isn’t that unusual either. All sorts of healthy, happy young dogs end up in rescue through no fault of their own. Rescue dogs aren't the stereotypical 'bull breed with issues' that some people think – we have all ages, shapes and sizes looking for homes.”

Before adopting any of the dogs they sponsor, Finding Furever Homes perform home checks and ask that people read, understand and agree to their Rescue Ready pledge – which states they are ready to take in a rescue dog with all that may entail.

Andrea said: “As a charity, we do as much as we can to find appropriate adopters and offer them ongoing support if needed, but at the end of the day people also need to be prepared to make smart decisions, put in the hard work and commit to helping their rescue dog settle in to their new life.”
