Shrewsbury Jazz Network presents The Remi Harris Project

The Remi Harris Project Remi Harris (guitar), Caley Groves (guitar), Mike Green (double bass) at the Hive, Belmont, Shrewsbury SY1 1TE (01743 234970) Saturday, 21 May 2016 at 8.00pm (doors open at 7.30pm) Remi Harris is rapidly gaining a reputation in the region and beyond for his superb guitar playing. His style, which is anchored to the Django Reinhardt ‘Hot Club’ and swing traditions, has nods to many of the World’s guitar ‘greats’, from Jimi Hendrix to Wes Montgomery, Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac), Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry and Joe Pass. In the British Jazz Awards, Remi was awarded 2nd place in the Rising Star Category in both 2014 and 2015, while his band came 2nd in the 2015 Small Group Category.

Solo, duet and trio combos, demonstrations on different guitars and a fusion of elements from gypsy jazz, bebop, blues, rock, world music, hip hop, funk and pop should ensure riveting entertainment. Radio 2 and 3 performances, a Jazz Top Ten album, and a listing in Culture Trip’s ’10 Young British Jazz Musicians You Should Know’ are stunning accolades for a musician still in his early career. We are proud to be promoting this upcoming talent.

Tickets £14, members £12, 21 and under £7 available on the door or in advance from the Hive (online: www.hiveonline.org.uk) and Pengwern Books, Fish Street, Shrewsbury SY1 1UR (01743 232236)
