Shrewsbury Bus Depot is Top of the Deck

Arriva’s Shrewsbury depot has been recognised for its high standards of operation and customer care by a prestigious national industry awards scheme.

Led by general manager Jamie Crowsley, the Shrewsbury team were presented with the Silver accolade in the ‘Top National Bus Depot’ category at the 2017 UK Bus Awards last week, for their impressive business performance while keeping costs under control and providing high-quality, reliable services - leading the way in reducing waste through recycling, reduced fuel consumption and energy efficiency.

Having been applauded as a modern, technologically-advanced bus depot with a motivated workforce who pull out all the stops to produce the best results, the depot team collected their accolade during a national ceremony at The Troxy in the heart of London on November 21.

Upon presenting the award, Mark Yexley, Chairman for the UK Bus Awards, said: “The judges were impressed with the way the Shrewsbury team were motivated to deliver excellence, and this had shone through in service delivery and business performance.

“We would like to congratulate the Shrewsbury team on its outstanding achievement. Well done from everyone at the UK Bus Awards.”

“The judges were impressed with this well written entry with plenty of evidence of a very well run operation.”

Under the management of Peter Graybrook, who was himself a finalist at the awards in the ‘Engineer of the Year’ category, the Shrewsbury depots has become one the best-performing garages across the whole of Arriva UK Bus.

Mark Bowd, Area Managing Director for Arriva Midlands, added: “It’s the exceptional contribution, above and beyond that expected of them that sets the Shrewsbury depot apart from the rest. We are a business with people at our core, and here we’re proud to have built a team who consistently strive to deliver excellence for our customers on a day to day basis.

“Winning this award clearly demonstrates that Shrewsbury is now setting the benchmark in terms of service provision, and operations across the board. I am incredibly proud of all their achievements.”

The annual UK Bus Awards, now in their 22nd year, are designed to recognise, celebrate and promote excellence and best practice throughout the UK bus industry.

Arriva’s Shropshire team also scooped the Bronze accolade in the ‘Bus and the Community’ category for its work alongside the Alzheimer's Society to make its services more dementia friendly in Telford.
