Salop Leisure reports best festive season with 15,000 visitors

A Shrewsbury-based leisure business enjoyed its best festive season, with new attractions and activities in the run-up to Christmas attracting a record of more than 15,000 visitors.

Santa and his elves had a very busy time at Salop Leisure’s Emstrey headquarters and the company’s Love2Stay resort as extra investment in The Salop Christmas Adventure paid off.

In addition to welcoming more than 1,500 children to his grotto at Salop Leisure, the jolly man in red hosted Tea with Santa at Love2Stay every day of the week during December up to Christmas, with 1,500 visitors recorded.

The activities kicked off with a record 10,000 visitors to the Shropshire Handmade and Creative Christmas Gift Fair at the end of November. Then, nearly 300 adults and children took part in the Salop Santa Dash and Elf Dash on December 1 to raise £500 for Shrewsbury Town in the Community.

Shrewsbury’s largest outdoor festive synthetic skating rink saw more than 1,500 skaters enjoying the attraction, while sales of freshly cut and potted trees Christmas trees at Love Plants also achieved a record.

“More than 5,000 children and their parents or grandparents have enjoyed the Christmas festivities with us this year,” said Tony Bywater, Salop Leisure’s chairman. “The festivities are great for the local community and for our staff and well worth the investment.

“In addition to celebrating Christmas in Shrewsbury, our programme of activities raised public awareness of all the services we offer at Salop Leisure and Love2Stay. The feedback has been very positive.”
