Recruitment drive to support new care team

Shropshire’s leading independent care provider has begun a recruitment drive to support the launch of a new peripatetic team to work at homes across the county.

Coverage Care is establishing a 10-strong unit of day and night nurses and care assistants to provide emergency and planned cover at its homes with plans to expand it in the future.

The not-for-profit organisation runs 14 care homes in Telford, Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Wellington, Whitchurch, Bridgnorth, Bishops Castle, Newport and Market Drayton, and will be opening a new facility, Montgomery House, in Shrewsbury later this year.

Operations Director Debbie Price said the move was to ensure a high standard of continuity of care for residents.

“We occasionally have to use agency nurses and carers to fill in for emergency and planned cover but we wanted to develop our own unit of staff who will be trained in Coverage Care’s specific policies and procedures.

“We feel this would be more sustainable going forward and allow us to continue offering the same high quality standard of care that we do to all our residents, regardless of staffing issues.”

Debbie said Coverage Care was keen to hear from experienced nurses and carers who were looking for a flexible role.

“We will be able to guarantee a minimum number of hours so people will be assured of a certain level of work and income, with the potential for more. Full training will be given and it would suit people who are adaptable and enjoy variety in their day to day working life,” she added.

Applicants must be able to drive and willing to travel to any Coverage Care residence.

Coverage Care homes are: Barclay Gardens, Chillcott Gardens, and Lightmoor View in Telford; Barleyfield House, Briarfields, Coton Hill House and Crowmoor House in Shrewsbury; New Fairholme, Oswestry; Farcroft, Wellington; Greenfields, Whitchurch; Innage Grange, Bridgnorth; Stone House, Bishops Castle; The Cottage Christian Nursing Home, Newport; and Woodcroft in Market Drayton.
