Plug-in expansion for Rybrook BMW ...

One of Shropshire’s leading motor dealerships has become amongst the first in the county to invest in new electric vehicle technology and provide a bespoke public charging point for all makes of electric and hybrid vehicles.

Rybrook BMW of Shrewsbury, will later this month become official ‘iAgents’ for BMW vehicles and has made a five-figure investment to provide suitable facilities for its customers beforehand, consisting of a new dedicated display area and a designated charging point outside its recently expanded Battlefield Road showrooms and service centre.

An ‘Electric Week’ is now planned for 20th to 28th February when Rybrook BMW will officially launch its new department with displays, advice and demonstrations of the latest BMW eDrive models, including the widely acclaimed i8 supercar.

Head of business, Gareth Thomas, said: “The Government has very specific and tough emission targets to meet and we believe that BMW is ahead of the game by launching these new electric and hybrid vehicles which are not only better for the environment, but still provide outstanding performance and fuel economy whilst retaining a truly rewarding driving experience.

“The clearly visibly charging point outside can accommodate two cars and works on a fuel charge-card system in conjunction with all makes of cars which have their own individual charging lead adaptors, not just BMW eDrive vehicles.

“Besides the current i3 and i8 models, we have the new 2 Series Active Touring 225e model, the 3 Series 330e PHEV which can attain around 135 miles to the gallon and the Hybrid X5e four-wheel-drive vehicle which can do 85 mpg, all available for viewing and test drives.

“The idea of our open Electric Week is to raise awareness of all forms of electric vehicles in general as we truly believe that this is the future of motoring.

“To enforce our commitment to this new technology we now have two specially trained members of staff Robert Jones and Toby Fitzsimmons - known as iGenius - who are available to answer any technical or practical questions, together with advising on lease and purchase options for all BMW eDrive vehicles.”
