Open Auditions for Singin’ in the Rain; your chance to make a splash on the Shropshire stage!

Open auditions this month to join Shropshire Musical Theatre company Get Your Wigle On

You might have seen Shrewsbury’s Get Your Wigle On at Theatre Severn recently for productions Footloose, Oliver, Grease,  and Les Miserables …to name a few.  The high-energy local performance group produce six to eight full scale musicals per year at Theatre Severn with  a fun and friendly approach to rehearsals at their studio in the heart of Shrewsbury town centre.

And now it’s your turn to get involved!  March 2016 sees one of the most loved musicals of all time in Theatre Severn’s main auditorium : Singin’ in the Rain and Get Your Wigle On are on the lookout for Shropshire performers aged 16+ to join them with some fantastic lead roles and places in the company to be cast.

Singin’ in the Rain tells the tale of the first Hollywood Musical and how the ‘silver screen’ found its voice.  With a strong feel good factor and all the romance, comedy and charm that fuses to create a perfect musical formula, the group can’t wait to begin rehearsals on the show and would love for you to join them.

The wide variety of roles in the production, from the witty and charming Don Lockwood (played by Gene Kelly in the original movie) to his comical sidekick Cosmo, beautiful smart soprano Kathy and the brash and hilarious screen star Lina Lamont, means there are lots of fantastic opportunities for local performers.

Thomas Crump, aged 17 from Church Stretton joined Get Your Wigle On last autumn as Raoul in their Teen Company’s Phantom of the Opera coming to Theatre Severn this July.  He says  ‘Get Your Wigle On have provided me with some incredible experiences and I have only been a member for 6 months! You get to perform to a very high standard whilst having an amazing time, both in rehearsal and during show week. The opportunity to perform with this talented group in a professional theatre has encouraged me to defer my place at university and take a gap year to take part in more productions.  The wide variety of shows in the next 18 months means there is something for everyone whether you sing, act or dance or just enjoy musicals, you’ll certainly be made to feel welcome!’

There are many small roles, chorus and dancers to be cast from the upcoming auditions on Saturday 25th April at The Get Your Wigle On studio.  There are also opportunities to audition for upcoming productions The Wizard of Oz, the group’s biggest production to date this November, and Bonnie & Clyde, Get Your Wigle On’s charity production this year.

Those interested in auditioning are asked to email [email protected] for an audition pack and more information on how to get involved with Get Your Wigle On.
