New lager launched at Henry Tudor House

An award-winning Shrewsbury bar and restaurant is toasting the launch of a new drink produced in the town.

Henry Tudor House, situated just off Wyle Cop, is the first stockist of Shropshire Lager, the latest offering from Battlefield Brewery.

The beverage will be on tap in Henry Tudor House’s popular bar for customers to enjoy over the Christmas and New Year period.

“We have stocked an American craft lager in the past but when we were approached by Battlefield Brewery to be their first outlet we thought it was an ideal opportunity to join forces with another successful independent Shrewsbury company,” said Graham Jenkins, proprietor of Henry Tudor House.

“It is great to have a British product to rival lagers made in the US, Italy and Spain and we think it will be very popular with our customers, especially as it is made on the doorstep.”

Graham Boulger, managing director of Battlefield Brewery, based in Harlescott, explained that he wanted to provide the market with a full and flavoursome lager which stood out from most the of the mass-produced brands.

He said: “After months of product development and fine tuning our recipe we are delighted to launch Shropshire Lager and it is good news for us and for local people that Henry Tudor House has agreed to stock it.

“It is a pale Munich-style lager, full flavoured with a great hop character and a sweet bitter balance and we hope people enjoy drinking it as much as we enjoy brewing it!”

Henry Tudor House has just been voted as ‘best night out in Shropshire’ and was recently included in the prestigious 2016 Michelin guide which lists the best places to eat in Great Britain and Ireland.
