New Fundraising Group for Royal Voluntary Service

Launch of Royal Voluntary Service Shrewsbury Fundraising Group

A new group has been launched to raise vital funds to support Royal Voluntary Service and raise awareness of the charity’s local work across Shrewsbury. The Royal Voluntary Service Shrewsbury Fundraising Group will be starting the year off doing bucket collections in local supermarkets.

Royal Voluntary Service is one of Britain’s largest volunteering charities with over 20,000 volunteers supporting thousands of people each month in hospitals, at home and in the community.  The focus is on building confidence, improving well-being and keeping loneliness at bay through an array of social activities and more structured support.  The charity is also one of the largest retailers in the NHS, with its network of cafes and shops providing a valued haven in hospitals.

Across Shropshire, Royal Voluntary Service runs social and activity clubs, and offers support in the community through the Supporting you at Home, helping with shopping, putting bins out, posting letters and collecting prescriptions.  Royal Voluntary Service Patient Transport provides transportation to essential hospital appointments, an invaluable service for vulnerable people within rural communities. In Hospitals, the charity runs shops, cafés and trolley services, as well as on-ward services to support patient recovery alongside clinical teams.

Stacey Smalley, Regional Fundraising Manager, Royal Voluntary Service, said: “In every corner of Great Britain, our volunteers meet the needs of the day to support people in hospitals and the community. To do our vitally important work, we rely on the generosity of the general public who donate both their time as volunteers and money. Our fundraising volunteers are true heroes, getting out into local communities to raise funds and awareness of our work.  We are incredibly grateful for their support, and look forward to more people joining us.”
