Major CQC ward for Falck

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has awarded Falck Ambulance UK patient transport services in Shropshire a rating of ‘Good’ following an unannounced inspection earlier this year.

Falck, based at Atcham Business Park, near Shrewsbury, gained the accolade in five key domains, being assessed by the CQC for the first time on the same scale as other healthcare and care service providers.

The inspection included interviews with colleagues in all roles, combined with feedback from both patients and hospital staff, with areas and criteria covering effectiveness, leadership, care, safety and responsiveness, resulting in being awarded a ‘Good’ rating in each.

Quality and governance director Kate Lawson, said: “The report and detailed inspection demonstrates our on-going commitment to everyday patient care and safety, together with the total dedication of our staff, so we are absolutely delighted to attain a very positive rating in this our first inspection.

“We will continue to work closely with the CQC to further improve our services and ensure that quality, safety and patient care remain at the forefront.”

Operations manager at Falck Shropshire, Mark Rawlings, added: “As one of the first ambulance services in the UK to be rated we are really thrilled to have achieved this ‘five out of five’ rating and credit must go to our team of 120 people throughout Shropshire including Ambulance care assistants, call centre and dispatch staff, through to volunteer drivers and vehicle maintenance staff, who make it all happen.”
