Landscape Photography Masterclass on offer at Shrewsbury College

Aspiring photographers can try their hand at the art of landscape photography during a masterclass with renowned professional photographer, Andrew Midgley, at Shrewsbury College.

Best known for his work with National Parks, National Trust and magazines such as Practical Photographer, Andrew is regularly in demand with publishers. He is based in Norfolk where he has a permanent exhibition in the Photographer’s Gallery, and teaches photography at a variety of institutions and levels around the country.

The one-day masterclass will take place on Saturday, 30 May. The group will meet at 11am at Shrewsbury College, London road, where they will receive a short introductory session before embarking on a visit to the first location in Shropshire. The day will end at 9pm, giving the group a chance to photograph the ‘golden hour’ and sunset.

John O’Connell, Curriculum leader for Creative Arts and Media at the College, said: “This is a real coup for the College and the county. Andrew is an extremely talented and sought after photographer, and the knowledge and expertise he can offer to amateur photographers is second to none.”

Those taking part in the session must have use of their own transport as the group will visit a handful of inspiring locations and access to a DSLR camera.

The emphasis of the day is on learning more about landscape techniques, and learning to adapt to the prevailing light and weather conditions, making the most of your equipment and composing images suitable to the location.

The course fee is £190. To book a place, please call the Course Advice Team on 01743 342411.
