Hope House fundraiser for Heritage Glass ...

Leading county glazing specialists Heritage Glass Group of Shrewsbury this week presented a cheque for £500 to Hope House Children’s Respite Hospice of Oswestry.

The money was raised by 60 staff, invited guests and customers during an evening river cruise and social event aboard Shrewsbury’s iconic tourist attraction the Sabrina boat, which also featured live music and a special raffle.

During the evening guests were treated to cup cakes sponsored by local firm SE Computers and anybody receiving one containing a jam surprise was the winner of donated prizes, including large Bentley and BMW toy cars.

Lynsey Kilvert, area fundraiser for Hope House Hospice, was one of the guests aboard the boat and said: “It was an absolutely idyllic evening and a beautiful cruise along the River Severn with a great bunch of people.

“Youngsters Abigail Randall and Luke Evans worked tirelessly on the raffle all evening and to raise such a large amount of money from a relatively small group of people shows great generosity on their part and we are truly grateful to Heritage Glass Group for supporting us in this way.”

Heritage Glass Group director Tony Randall, added: “We are celebrating our 17th year of successful business and always try to support local firms and organisations, so having recently fitted out the Sabrina boat with new bespoke windows, we decided to jump on board with them and organise this social evening.

“An example of businesses working well together is that Steve Evans of our IT suppliers SE Computers, sponsored the cup cake raffle which raised the money and we are grateful to him and our guests for their generosity.

“Hope House Hospice do such an amazing job in helping youngsters and their families from across the region so we were delighted that Lynsey could join us on board and that we could raise this money to support them, and we have others future events planned which will also help to raise funds for them.”
