Hive wins award for best small arts venue in Shropshire

The Hive, an arts charity and venue in Shrewsbury working with young people and children across the County has won What’s On Readers’ Award for Best Small Theatre/Arts Venue in Shropshire.

The Hive has been running as a venue for over 10 years and hosts weekly events including frequent gigs by internationally renowned musicians, film screenings and creative activities for children & young people. The Hive is a small venue operating in the heart of Shrewsbury Town Centre and has a small but very dedicated staff team who work hard to programme and organise the variety of events that take place at the venue.

The venue is also used by a variety of local groups and other organisations including DASh, Shrewsbury Film and Shrewsbury Jazz Network.

Salla Virman, Director of the Hive said: “Everyone at the Hive is really excited about being nominated as the best small venue in Shropshire, we work hard to provide a really good customer service and are also developing our own programming to provide interesting and high quality events for people to come and see. The award was a fantastic surprise and we would like to thank everyone who has voted for us, things like this really give us that extra boost to go that extra mile!”

The Hive is currently developing its own programming offer for 2016-2017 which will include more focus on contemporary folk music, high quality theatre for family audiences, non-mainstream film screenings and other for families & young audiences, as well as interesting high quality activity for young people, especially through the newly formed #HiveCollective.
