Help to Buy event at Shrewsbury planned

A special event aimed at getting people onto, and further up the housing ladder is to be held in Shrewsbury next month.

Galliers Homes is hosting a ‘Help to Buy’ evening at its sales hub in Bellstone on June 11 to promote how the government scheme can be used at its Saxon Court development.

The first houses were released for sale at the site in Sundorne earlier this year and building work is now well underway on a range of 25 three and four bedroom houses.

“Help to Buy is a very popular initiative which is assisting people to get on the housing ladder or move to a larger property,” said Andy Gough, sales and marketing director of Galliers Homes.

The scheme requires customers to have a 5% deposit and the government then lends the purchaser up to 20% of the cost of the new-build home, so in addition to the 5% cash deposit, a 75% mortgage is required to make up the rest. Purchasers are not charged fees on the 20% loan for the first five years of owning the home.

“The event we are holding will explain the scheme, which is open to first time buyers and people who already own a home, in more detail and we will have independent financial advisors on hand to offer guidance, as well as our sales staff and estate agents so prospective purchasers can chat to them in an informal atmosphere,” Andy added.

There are seven individual designs of properties at Saxon Court, in Holgate Drive, all finished to an exacting specification with high quality kitchens, bathrooms and en suites.

Customers using Help to Buy can purchase a three-bedroom property at the site from around £140,000.

Anyone attending the Help to Buy event from 4pm until 7pm on June 11 will also be able to reclaim their parking fees from Galliers Homes.
