Good2Great to host business start-up Bootcamp in Shrewsbury

An event aimed at helping Shrewsbury people to launch their own business is planned for the town.

The StartUp ‘Bootcamp’ is being hosted in Shrewsbury on May 30 at the University Centre, Guild Hall, Shrewsbury by growth specialists Good2Great.

Good2Great's head of start-up, Sally Themans, explained that they had a wealth of experience with new businesses, having organised start up workshops throughout the Marches region - with over 1,000 would-be local entrepreneurs attending since 2014 - resulting in the creation of hundreds of businesses and new jobs in Shropshire.

“The StartUp Bootcamps will be of benefit to people who have an idea and want to take control of their own careers but are not sure what steps to take,” she said.

“It’s a sad fact that many new businesses fail - or never even get off the ground - because people are inexperienced and miss key considerations. We cover the basics of running with an idea, how to realistically evaluate the market, and what really needs to be done in order to get going.

“Led by NatWest Bank, the Bootcamps are sponsored by leading local industry experts and provide attendees with access to specialists who will talk about finance, legal, branding, design, web, premises, social media and product design, as well as what help is available and how to access it.

“We have helped a huge range of companies over the last five years, including food and drink manufacturers, HR consultants, graphic designers, yoga teachers, dental consultants, jewellers, restaurants and bars and are hoping that some of these business owners will attend the events to share their experiences.

“They have worked with us to follow tried and tested steps to create their own profitable and sustainable business - some of which have been life changing.

“Our area has the lowest failure rate in the UK for start-ups and we have worked tirelessly to play our small part in contributing to this success story.

“As well as benefiting the individuals and the local economy, the feedback we’ve received from them as they grow and thrive is amazing so we are looking forward to our next two events.”
