Free Halloween fun for half-term at Shrewsbury Shopping Centre

There will be a spooktacular two days of free family fun at Shrewsbury’s Darwin and Pride Hill Shopping Centres during half-term week – just in time for Halloween.

On Thursday, 27 October, free pumpkin carving workshops will have everything children and their families need to create fang-tastic traditional pumpkin lanterns, whilst on Friday the centre will be holding a treat-filled fancy dress trek.

“Our children’s events are always a big hit, and this week’s Halloween activity is the perfect way for parents to let the kids burn off some energy during half-term week,” said Shrewsbury Shopping Centre Manager Kevin Lockwood. “On Thursday, our craft workshops will be demonstrating all manner of devilish designs and helping visitors carefully carve their pumpkins. We’ll have stencils, carving tools and even a supply of pumpkins on hand for children to take home with them,” he said, “but people are also being invited to bring their own pumpkins along too.”

The pumpkin carving workshop will be held in Darwin’s middle level, near Massarellas, from 11am until 3pm, with a short break for lunch at 12.30.

The following day, a fabulous, free fancy dress parade will wind its way through Darwin and Pride Hill shopping centres, giving children the chance to collect treats along the way. “The Trek n’ Treat Parade will meet at 10.45am at the top level of the Darwin centre, before roaming through the centre and into Pride Hill,” said Kevin. “The parade will let youngsters – and any enthusiastic parents - show off their Halloween costumes as they gather goodies along the route.

“We’re looking forward to lots of fabulous fun this week, and welcoming local families to our spooktacular event,” he said.

The Halloween pumpkin carving workshop takes place from 11am until 12.30, and from 1pm to 3pm, on Thursday 27 October. The event will be held Darwin’s middle level, near Massarellas, and although pumpkins are available it is recommended that people bring their own to avoid disappointment.

The Trek n’ Treat Parade will be held on Friday, 28 October, meeting in Darwin’s top level at 10.45am for an 11am start.
