An expanding Shropshire building company has taken on the first recruits to its new a graduate training programme - launched to support ambitious growth plans.

Galliers Homes, which is based in Shrewsbury Business Park and builds properties throughout the county, has made the step as part of its ‘Early Talent’ initiative.

“This is a positive commitment by the company in our Early Talent programme and one we take seriously,” said Carli Gallier, people manager at the family-owned company.

“We hope to develop the success of this to scheme to ensure we continually invest in the future talent for Galliers Homes and the house building industry.

“Galliers is growing, with our staff team here and at our sister company Cameron Homes increasing by 47 to 150 since 2018, and this set to rise further in 2020, so we are always looking for skilled and committed people to join us,” she added.

The first graduate recruits are Elliot Lawley (22), who left the University of Birmingham with a business management degree and Charlie Joyce (21), who studied planning and property development at Oxford Brookes University.

They are now on a rotational programme which will see them gain exposure in every discipline at Galliers and Cameron, including the commercial, land, production and marketing departments at its offices in Shrewsbury, Chasetown, Droitwich and Castle Donington, over 18-24 months.

Alongside a line manager in each discipline they are assigned a director as a sponsor and mentor who will offer feedback and support as they progress.

Managing director Ian Burns will also meet regularly with the graduates to ensure they receive the right level of exposure and capture feedback throughout the programme.
