Children take on the challenge of the jungle at Shrewsbury Shopping

The Darwin Shopping Centre was joined by Shrewsbury Town Football Club’s Lenny the Lion and aspiring Jungle Explorers last week, as they took on the centre’s brand-new Summer Jungle – a free play area that will be in-situ in the centre until the last Sunday in August.

Youngsters were challenged with making their way through the ball pit swamp, navigating a route over the rickety bridge, climbing up into the tree house and making it out past the gorilla to be awarded title of Jungle Explorer, with plenty of smiling faces accepting that challenge throughout the day.

Kevin Lockwood, Centre Manager said he was delighted with the response to the Summer Jungle. “We had such fun launching our free Summer Jungle. We were joined by Lenny the Lion alongside African Tribal stilt walkers and it was brilliant to see families smiling throughout the day as the children enjoyed the free fun.

“Managing a shopping centre isn’t just about retail, it’s important that we provide an atmosphere and entertainment that appeals to our loyal visitors and I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to do that this month, especially with the school summer holidays very much upon us. We hope that the Summer Jungle will continue to provide plenty of fun to families visiting us throughout the rest of August.”

The Summer Jungle will remain open for daily explorations until Sunday 26 August and is provided free of charge to visitors aged 2 to 7 years.
