Chance for kids to get active during school holidays

Youngsters are being given the chance to get active at a series of sports camps being held across Shropshire during the school half-term holiday.

Ball Sports Community Coaching is holding multi-sports camps and goalkeeper workshops at The Marches School in Oswestry, and football camps at Market Drayton Cricket Club and Sir John Talbot School in Whitchurch.

Sessions are being held every day during the holiday - October 24 to 28 - and parents are being advised to book as soon as possible, as places are filling up.

Neil Prescott, of Ball Sports, said the school holiday camps were always popular.

“Childcare costs are a significant financial strain for parents and carers, particularly during the school holidays, so we are always conscious about keeping our prices as low as possible,” he said.

“It’s always a balancing act for parents during school holidays to keep the kids entertained while continuing to work, so we find these holiday sports camps are always busy.

“They are a great way for kids to get active, improve their sports skills and participate in team games, which is important for their social development too.

“We have expanded the offering this year with the addition of specialist goalkeeping workshops, under the guidance of former Wales goalkeeper Connor Roberts, which are going really well.”

Each multi-sports and football camp are £12.50 per day, or £10 for Ball Sports members, while the goalkeeping workshop is £15 per day.
