Chance to become 'Move it or Lose it' teacher

People keen to become motivational exercise instructors are being sought by a local charity.

The callout comes from Community Resource (formerly known as Shropshire Rural Communities Charity), which wants to hear from people fromShrewsbury, Whitchurch and Market Drayton  who could join the ‘Move It or Lose It’ scheme to support older people.

Move It or Lose It training shows you how to teach exercise to older people safely, as well as how to motivate them to keep active.

The classes may be seated or standing, according to the ability of class members.

“This is a really brilliant opportunity for anyone who’d like to inspire older people to stay active, teaching them how best to exercise in a fun way.” says Community Resource Development Officer Susie Hancock. “In our experience this Move It or Lose It is something that’s enjoyed equally by both the participants and the instructor.

“We are looking for people – no previous teaching experience necessary - who would like to train as instructors, especially in the Whitchurch, Market Drayton and Shrewsbury areas.”

Once qualified, teachers can join the Association of Shropshire Exercise Teachers for ongoing support in delivering classes to older adults.

To encourage potential teachers to take part of this opportunity, Community Resource is able to offer a training subsidy (terms and conditions  apply).
