Catax Celebrates SME Achievements at Shropshire Chamber Business Awards

A national provider of business tax reliefs is continuing to promote the achievements of SMEs across the region following an evening of celebrations on Friday.

Catax, which helps businesses to access beneficial tax reliefs for patents, Capital Allowances and Research & Development, sponsored two award categories at the prestigious Shropshire Chamber Business Awards 2019 through its business development division based in Shrewsbury, Reclaim Tax UK.

The award ceremony took place on Friday 14th June at the International Centre, Telford, and celebrated the best in the business across the region, with the two Catax-sponsored Best Small Business categories (up to five and up to 20 employees) seeing Iron & Fire and Hospital Direct crowned winners respectively.

Catax, which has five offices across the UK including one in Shrewsbury, employs 115 Innovation Consultants and specialises in working with SMEs to provide advice and guidance on how they can access valuable tax breaks through HMRC.

Chris Jones, Business Development Manager of West Midlands Catax region, explained: “The very nature of our work is helping businesses to grow and prosper by accessing wider financial support, so it felt only natural that we came on board as sponsors of both Best Small Business categories.

“All three of the tax reliefs we focus on — Capital Allowances, R&D and Patent Box — are hugely underutilised, due to business owners not being aware of such support, how to access it, or if their businesses qualify for it. Yet SMEs make up over 99% of the entire business population in the UK, so incentivising their growth is hugely beneficial for business owners, staff, HMRC itself, and the wider economy.

“This is the first time we’ve sponsored the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards and the event was a great success, with many worthy finalists in attendance. We were thrilled for Iron & Fire and Hospital Direct on their Best Small Business award wins, and we very much look forward to watching their businesses continue to flourish in the future,” concluded Chris.
