Bowling club hits the ‘jack’ pot with £1,000 funding

A village bowling club is to receive a £1,000 donation towards its continued work with the local community.

Persimmon Homes West Midlands will donate the money to Bicton Bowling Club as part of its Community Champions programme. The match-funding scheme donates up to £1,000 each to two good causes every month.

The money from this donation will go towards upgrading facilities by building a new hut, providing disabled access and a covered viewing area.

Ken Barrow, spokesman for the club said: “We’re over the moon to have received this funding towards the upgrade of facilities.  Our members have really pulled together to raise money from selling football cards, a raffle and cakes.  We have also received a generous donation from one of our bowlers.  The £1,000 from Persimmon will hopefully mean we can finally begin this much-needed work.”

Stephen Cleveley, sales director, Persimmon Homes West Midlands said: “We’re passionate about supporting groups and charities local to the areas where we build because we truly believe in investing in the community.  Bicton Bowling Club is a fantastic example of this.”

Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme is available for all charities and groups to apply for up to £1000 match-funding.  Two winners are chosen every month and even if you’re not successful on your first attempt you can apply again.
