Beating Heartbreak Forever

The Ironwork’s Offer a Helping Hand to The British Heart Foundation

Celebrated every year, World Heart Day brings thousands of people across the world together in a bid to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of your heart. Over 17 million people die every year from heart related diseases, making it the leading cause of death and disability in the world.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the UK’s leading charity for beating these diseases, and their team works tirelessly every day to ensure that vital research receives the funding it needs. Funding this research that goes into finding a cure is a critical and crucial matter, which is why the BHF sits so closely to our hearts here at the Ironwork’s centre.

We have worked closely with the BHF this autumn season to help in whatever way we could by allowing their fundraisers to take over the Ironworks’ entrance. These takeovers meant that our team took a step back, allowing the BHF to greet visitors, promote their need for help, and raise awareness. With all proceeds and charitable donations going straight back into the BHF and the important work that they do, these takeovers are vitally important for raising awareness about heart diseases and World Heart Day.

Warren Appleby, the BHF Fundraising Manager for Shropshire, has said: “We were thrilled to be involved in fundraising at the British Ironwork Centre this autumn, and appreciate everyone’s generous support. The invaluable total of £1,565.38 raised will help towards enabling BHF’s Heart Research grants, including helping the RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry to flourish and develop its findings”.

The British Heart Foundation are currently funding a three year grant of over £233k to a team at Oswestry examining the role of nuclear envelope proteins in cardiac conduction and heart disease. This vital research will help save many lives in the future, and all funds raised will be going directly into supporting important research projects like this one.

Having the opportunity to support such an important cause has been huge for us, and throwing our energy behind it seems only natural. We are hoping to meet up with Warren in the coming weeks to discuss the next campaign and how we can help to raise even more funds in 2019.

We would like to extend a massive thank you to all of those at the British Heart Foundation who work so hard to raise money for research into these cures and treatments. We would also like to thank all of our visitors who have donated – together, we really will make a difference in reducing heartbreak across the UK and the world!
