Autumn event at Shrewsbury market hall

Shrewsbury residents will have a chance to chat about their favourite part of town at an event this weekend.

A ‘celebration of autumn’ is being hosted by two creative local businesswomen at the Market Hall on Saturday, October 22.

Linda Edwards, the artist behind a range of Shrewsbury-themed products, is showcasing her work at Thoughts, a gift shop in the Market Hall, and is asking for ideas for new illustrations.

“My Sunny Side Art collection features various buildings and characters from around the town and across Shropshire but we would like to know if people have a special feature that they would like including as the range is continually expanding and evolving,” said Linda.

“I have lived in the town for 25 years now so I think I know it fairly well but there may be hidden treasures that I am missing and could be incorporated.

“We want visitors to our event to come up with suggestions and there will be a prize for the best idea,” she added.

The autumn celebration will also include a glass of fizz from 12noon until 2pm, promotions and a prize draw.

Lou Penney, who runs Thoughts, said that she was a big fan of Sunny Side Art and stocked a large selection of the mugs, prints, cards and other products.

She commented: “I try to sell unusual, high quality gifts from jewellery and scarves to candles and umbrellas and particularly like to support local crafts people where possible.

“We are hoping lots of visitors will come along to meet Linda on Saturday to see our new merchandise and have a drink with us – it should be a fun day.”
