The Art of Afternoon Tea with The Mercia Ensemble

On Sunday 11th August between 3pm and 7pm, Iscoyd Park, the private country house wedding and events venue, will be hosting an Afternoon Tea with The Mercia Ensemble, a celebrated chamber music group. Tickets for the event are £42, which includes a glass of Champagne on arrival, and decadent afternoon tea.

The highly anticipated event takes place in the historical venue of Iscoyd Park with guests welcomed by a chilled glass of the house champagne on the terrace, followed by a decadent afternoon tea and immersive Opera from The Mercia Ensemble, a brilliant chamber music group comprising of prize-winning pianist Petra Milarová, Claire Wild, Soprano, and Emma Pountney, Clarinet.

The performance will be followed by an indulgent afternoon tea served on the terrace overlooking the gardens, prepared by Iscoyd’s Michelin trained Chef, David Cox, formerly head pastry chef at one of London’s finest Michelin restaurants, La Trompette.

From prawn with homemade mayonnaise and honey roast ham sandwiches to sausage rolls with hand-crafted puff pastry and Welsh sausage meat served with a pickled walnut puree and black pudding scotch eggs, the menu is a true homage to the art of afternoon tea.

Once the savoury course has been devoured, guests can look forward to a myriad of cakes and pastries, including a selection of plain and apple and raisin scones alongside the Head Chef’s signature pastries, involving choux buns, raspberry cheesecake trifles and fruit tartlets…

Director of Iscoyd Park, Phil Godsal, comments: “The team has been working tirelessly to put together this highly anticipated event and we’re so looking forward to welcoming The Mercia Ensemble to Iscoyd. The kitchen team have put together a quintessentially British afternoon tea menu but one like you have never tasted before. Now we just can’t wait for guests to come and enjoy the afternoon.”

Much in demand as individual artists, the trio formed the Mercia Ensemble in 2015 and have travelled globally with their vast repertoire of operatic arias, classical music and modern songs.

Afternoon Tea with The Mercia Ensemble will take place on Sunday 11th August between 3pm and 7pm with tickets available to purchase for £42. The price includes a glass of Champagne on arrival, as well as afternoon tea.
