Worcestershire Twenty20 clash is hailed a big success

Shropshire's showpiece Twenty20 challenge match against First Class neighbours Worcestershire this week has been hailed a big success.
The Minor Counties side ran the Pears close in Wednesday night's match at Shrewsbury's London Road ground before losing by 13 runs in front of a crowd of around 500.

Shoppers at Shrewsbury Market Hall have helped raise more than £400 for Shropshire carers by raffling off a special celebratory cake.

The jubilee-inspired cake was donated by The Icing Tip and was raffled off in aid of the Shropshire RCC Carers Appeal, raising £418 in total.

Budding young Picassos can enjoy a free art class in Shrewsbury this week.

Compost Kids, which is based within Shrewsbury’s award-winning Market Hall, will be offering free classes on Thursday, from 10am until 2pm, at Party in the Park in the Quarry.

The classes are offered in association with Sure Start.

A Sister at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital has been selected to judge field events at the London 2012 Olympics.

Mrs Cathy Briggs, a Sister in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at RSH and Staff Side Chair for the Royal College of Nursing, said it was a ‘dream’ to be involved in the Games.

She will be one of about 60 National Technical Officials for the eight field events...
