Studio doors open wide for visitors

Artists and designers from across Shrewsbury are preparing to open their studio and workshop doors to the general public. Shrewsbury Open Studios returns in July and will stretch over two weeks, giving people a unique insight into the working lives of many local artists and craftspeople.

Those participating in the series of open days and weekends include painters, drawers, sculptors, printers, photographers and illustrators. Visitors can also gain a glimpse into the work of jewellery makers, ceramic artists, woodwork and more unusual arts such as upcycling and topiary.

There will be exhibitions at varous town-centre gallery spaces in addition to the open studios at artists homes - and venues exhibiting artwork as part of the open studios event include the Shrewsbury Coffeehouse, Bear Steps Gallery and the upper level of The Market Hall.

Shrewsbury Open Studios will be taking place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July, followed by a further open weekend on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July. Leaflets detailing the full programme, artist biographies and individual studios open are available from various town centre outlets. Alternatively, people can visit
