Shrewsbury International Street Theatre Festival

The 2012 Shrewsbury International Street Theatre Festival will kick off in the town today with a raft of performances from top artists from around the world.

Artists have been flown from countries near and far to perform on the four outdoor stages across the town - the Square stage, the Market Hall, the Wheatsheaf and Pride Hill.

Entertainment will take place throughout the day from 11.30am when America’s Got Talent finalist Snap Boogie will perform on the Pride Hill stage.

Artistic director Bill Ferguson said: “Each year we aim to introduce a new roster of artists who have travelled from all over the world to be here. To have Snap Boogie with us is wonderful.

“He is a street performer from Massachusetts and was a finalist in season six of America’s Got Talent, we are sure he will be a draw for the crowds.

“He is among many many extremely talented artists who we are very lucky to be able to welcome to the seventh Shrewsbury International Street Festival.”

Also performing today will be multi-talented actor, impressionist, clown and mime artist Diego Spano, Bike Boy Sean Bridges who mixes bicycle stunts with juggling tricks and humour, and Miss G Nee, a lively fun-filled audience participation show with the ‘most magical Genie of all time’.

Free programmes are available from the information tent at the bottom of Pride Hill which contain information of times, artists and stages.

The festival runs from today until Sunday.
