Blooming band for Flower Show

This year, Shrewsbury Flower Show is celebrating its 125th year on the 10th and 11th August in style with an appearance from Oysterband, one of Britain’s great live folk bands!

Show visitors will be able to enjoy live performances on both evenings from the world famous electric folk band, whose recent album with June Tabor, Ragged Kingdom, was named Folk Album of the Year in Mojo Magazine and nominated for 3 awards in BBC's Radio 2 Folk Awards. For entry in to the showground after 6:00pm, tickets will be sold at a reduced price of £10 for adults and concessions, with free entry for children. This will give visitors access not only to the Oysterband live performances, but also the Show’s famed firework finale.

Formed in 1978, Oysterband have toured in 35 countries and made 12 studio albums, gaining a worldwide cult following. Comprising John Jones, Alan Prosser, Chopper, Dil Davies and Ian Telfer, the band are one of the UK’s most celebrated folk rock groups, and will entertain crowds at Shrewsbury Flower Show with some of their most popular songs, including ‘When I’m Up I Can’t Get Down’, ‘Everywhere I Go’ and ‘The World Turned Upside Down’.

Peter Road-Night, Shrewsbury Flower Show Secretary, said: “As our 125th Show, this year is a special occasion for us all and we are delighted to have Oysterband performing. Shrewsbury Quarry Park has wonderful acoustics, and has played host to some of the world’s best bands, so it is sure to be an unforgettable experience for all who attend.”
